About PEER Teens USA Turkey Trot for Global Food Security

PEER Teens USA is a group of young people located all around the US who desire to extend God's kingdom and do amazing good in communities through outreach projects. We have had the privilege to help meet the material and relational needs of individuals in a detention center and a long-term care facility. We are part of the larger network, Team PEER Teens, and operate under the umbrella of a non-profit organization called PEER Servants (peerservants.org).

For our current project, we are organizing a turkey trot (a fun run) on Thanksgiving morning to raise money for global food security. This turkey trot serves as a way to raise funds for where it is needed most among the PEER Servants partners. The ongoing impact of COVID-19 and the global economic downturn has resulted in a food crisis in every nation where PEER Servants has partners. Each of PEER Servants partners have unique situations that are specific to their country or region. For example, following the end of South Sudan's civil war, people who had fled from their homes have been returning from the refugee camps to rebuild their lives. Unfortunately, the food scarcity is causing many to go back to the refugee camps. There, they can be guaranteed at least one meal a day. To combat the food crisis, the PEER Servants partner in South Sudan is helping individuals start backyard gardens. These refugees are now being empowered to provide for their families. With your donations, more assistance can be given to people in similar situations.

Our fundraising goal is $7,000. One hundred percent (100%) of the funds will go to the PEER Servants partners in Burundi, Guatemala, India, Moldova, Peru, the Philippines, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Uganda or Zambia who are facing the greatest challenges in food security.

The primary Turkey Trot will be in Lexington, Massachusetts on November 24th from 9:00-10:30am (Highrock Lexington Church, 7 Celematis Road, Lexington).  Runners/Walkers can choose from three distance options: 1.5 miles or 3 miles or 4 miles. If you do not live near Lexington, you can still participate individually by running or walking and raise funds from wherever you are!
