Over 15 years ago, CCT opened a tribal school in Mindanao for young children in Kindergarten through 3rd Grade. For many, they were the first in their families to get a formal education. Over the years, the school has grown and now accepts students all the way through high school. The initial structures for the young children, built long ago, are no longer safe and in terrible disrepair. Water runs through the roof. The bathroom facilities are in such poor condition that students avoid using them. The classroom walls are thin and can’t block noise or distractions from outside. The school’s water pump is also broken, so students have to go to the river to bathe or get drinking water. These problems affect students’ ability to learn and stay healthy. These are bright young children with huge potential and worthy of our investment in providing safe places to get a Christ-centered, culturally-honoring education.
